On November 3rd, the launching meeting of the Lithuanian Japan Alumni of Former Students Studied in Japan was held in the Historical Presidential Palace in Kaunas and the Association was officially established.
H.E. Ambassador Miyoko Akashi expressed that “It is grateful that the Association is launched this particular year, when we are commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Diplomatic relations between Japan and Lithuania. Human relationship through studying abroad is very effective for further mutual understanding and I would like to strengthen such relationship between Japan and Lithuania. For such strong relationship, former students studied in Japan are very important, so the Embassy of Japan will continue its support as much as possible. I sincerely appreciate all people who supported the establishment of this association.” H.E.Ambassador also read the message from Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) director Mr.Kashio to the president Mr.Vaitkus.（You can find the message here ）
Mr.Vaitkus said that “According to my experience, studying abroad is very valuable opportunity. I wish more and more people would take such opportunity and hope this association will be helpful to strengthen relationship between Japan and Lithuania.”
