MEXT Scholarship Programs for 2011

 

Call for the Japanese Government Scholarships to study in Japan under the Japanese Studies students program
►►► The application period is closed.

■The term is the period neccessary to complete the study course within approximately one year starting from October 2012.

■Main requirements: applicants must be undergraduates at foreign (non-Japanese) universities majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture, sufficient Japanese language ability, good studies results.

Program guideline

In order to participate in the contest the applicant is required to provide the following documents for Education Exchanges Support Foundation:

1. Documents in English: Application form, Annex, Recommendation form and Health certificate.

2. An online application form for Education Exchanges Support Foundation. The application can be found here.

3. The letter of mediation in Lithuanian language, issued by the candidate‘s  home educational institution. The letter of mediation – is the official document, issued by the candidates home university. It should be printed on the official university blank and approved with the signature of the dean of the faculty. The letter of mediation should state, that university agrees that the candidate would go to study to Japan for a fixed period of time, also it should  note whether the credits received abroad would be accepted or not.

Deadline for Submission is 27th February 2012, 5 p.m. to Education Exchanges Support Foundation, Geležinio vilko str. 12, Vilnius  (must be arrived on that date).

Call for the Japanese Government Scholarships to study in Japan under the Teacher training student program
►►► The application period is closed.

Guideline, Application, Annex, Recommendation form and Health Certificate form for Teacher training students.

■ The term is the period necessary to complete each training course beween October 2012 to March 2014.

■ Main requirements: English language ability, not less than 5 years teaching experience, age under 35 year old.

Application can be downloaded on the website Study in Japan.

Deadline for Submission is 29th February 2012 to the Embassy (must be arrived on that date).

Call for Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for 2012

Embassy of Japan announce that Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) is offering to Lithuanian citizens 4 kinds of scholarship programs to study in Japan from April, 2012:

In order to participate in the contest the applicant is required to provide the following documents for Education Exchanges Support Foundation:

1. Documents in English (required documents are listed in the guidelines of each scholarship program in the article “APPLICATION PROCEDURE”).
Application can be downloaded on the website Study in Japan.

2. An online application form for Education Exchanges Support Foundation. The application can be found here.

Applications must be submitted until May 18th, 2011 (Wednesday) to Education Exchanges Support Foundation, department of Higher Education (Gelezinio Vilko str. 12, LT-02223, Vilnius).

! Important: applications to Education Exchanges Support Foundation can be submitted personally or posted and should arrive not later than the deadline. 

The preliminary date of exams organized by the Embassy of Japan is 30th – 31st of May, 2011.

Embassy of Japan recommends you to check and practice it before you take exams at Study in Japan.

Applicants that successfully pass the exam are invited to the interview with the attorneys of the Embassy of Japan and members of the International Studies Commission.

MEXT Japanese Studies Students Program
Japanese studies in Japanese universities of 1 year length according to the course elected: A – Japanese language is developed with additional Japanese life and culture studies, B – Japanese life and culture studies with additional Japanese language studies

Outline:

  • Student of undergraduate Japanese language and culture studies (not less than 2nd year student), studying in university;
  • Good Japanese language skills;
  • High motivation.

Selection – review of the documents, Japanese language test and interview which will take place in February – March. Announcement about the scholarship received is made in July – August. Leaving to Japan after receiving visa is on the first week of October.

MEXT Teacher Training Students Program
The length of the teacher training courses in Japanese universities is 1.5 years, 6 month long Japanese language courses are included, if necessary. The training mainly consists of educational administration (such as educational administration and finance, school management), educational methods (examples: classroom teaching, learning system theory, curriculum, and educational assessment), specialized subject research (examples: mathematics, physics, chemistry, and gymnastics), and observational tours and practice (examples: class observations, participation in special educational activities, and tours of educational research facilities). Guidance plans will be organized flexibly according to the research themes the foreign students wish to study.

Outline:

  • Until 35 years old;
  • Not less than 5 years experience as a teacher at elementary  or secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools in Lithuania;
  • Will to learn Japanese and receive research guidance in Japanese.

Selection – review of the documents, Japanese language test and interview which will take place in February – March. Announcement about the scholarship received is made in July – August. Leaving to Japan after receiving visa is on the first week of October.

MEXT Undergraduate Students Program

The length of studies is 5 years, which includes 1 year preparatory Japanese language courses, and 4 years Undergraduate University Studies of a chosen major in Japanese university.

Outline:

  • 17 – 21 years old;
  • High school education;
  • Good school results;
  • Advances English language skill;
  • Determination to learn Japanese language.

Screening – the review of the documents, tests (English and Japanese language – general; math A – for those who have chosen social and humanitarian studies and math B, chemistry and physics/biology for those who have chosen science) and the interview will take place in June. Announcement about receiving the scholarship is made in January next year. Leaving to Japan after receiving visa is on the first week of April.

MEXT Research Students Program

Scholarship for the Research Studies is received for the period of 1.5 and 2 years. 6 months long Japanese language courses for those that have insufficient Japanese language skills are included in both cases. Scholarship for Master and Doctor degree studies are provided for the period required to end the studies, 6 month long Japanese language courses are included, if necessary.

Outline:

  • 22 – 35 years old;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field, received in university;
  • Good studying results;
  • High motivation;
  • Advanced English or Japanese language skills;
  • Japanese language skills: as for Japanese Study students: Advanced Japanese skills. Apart from Japanese students: not need Japanese skills but better to learn it for basic level;
  • Determination to learn Japanese language;

Screening – review of the documents, tests of Japanese and English (who wish) languages and interview that will take place in June. The announcement about receiving the scholarship is made in January, leaving to Japan - in April of the next year or on the first week of October.

MEXT Technical College Students Program
The length of studies is 4 years, which includes 1 year preparatory Japanese language courses, and 3 years studies of a chosen major in Japanese college of technology. Major should be chosen from the following: 1) Mechanical Engineering; 2) Electrical and Electronic Engineering 3) Information, Communication and Network Engineering; 4) Materials Engineering; 5) Architecture and Civil Engineering; 6) Maritime Engineering; etc.

Outline:

  • 17-21 years old;
  • High school education;
  • Good school results;
  • Advances English language skill;
  • Determination to learn Japanese language.

Screening – the review of the documents, tests (English and Japanese language, mathematics and physics or chemistry) and the interview will take place in June. Announcement about receiving the scholarship is made in January next year. Leaving to Japan after receiving visa is on the first week of April.

MEXT Specialized College Students Program

The length of studies is 3 years, which includes 1 year preparatory Japanese language courses, and 2 years studies of a chosen major in Japanese professional training college. Major should be chosen from the following: 1) Civil Engineering; 2) Architecture; 3) Electrical Engineering; 4) Electronics; 5) Telecommunication; 6) Nutrition; 7) Infant Education; 8) Secretarial Studies;  9) Hotel Management; 10) Tourism; 11) Dressmaking, Fashion accessories; 12) Design; 13) Photography; etc.

Outline:

  • 17-21 years old;
  • High school education;
  • Good school results;
  • Advances English language skill;
  • Determination to learn Japanese language.

Screening – the review of the documents, tests (English and Japanese language and mathematics) and the interview will take place in June. Announcement about receiving the scholarship is made in January next year. Leaving to Japan after receiving visa is on the first week of April.
