Seminar and Workshop on Nuclear Security


18 June, Tuesday, in Vilnius Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan’s Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Nuclear Security with the cooperation of U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration of Department of Energy and Joint Research Centre of European Commission are organizing the seminar, ”Meeting Challenges of Nuclear Security and Nonproliferation.” The Embassies of Japan and the United States support the seminar.

One day event is expected to form basis on which the all relevant parties share the understanding of the importance of nuclear nonproliferation and nuclear security.

In addition to the seminar, on 20 June, Thursday, in Medininkai, Lithuania's Nuclear Security Center of Excellence and the organizers will arrange the workshop, which is focused on radiation control at the border of Lithuania.

The seminar and workshop will be attended by experts from Lithuanian and foreign institutions, such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, radiation protection agencies, customs, border security and law enforcement institutions involved in the nuclear security related activities. These events are expected to make large contributions to nuclear security and nonproliferation in Lithuania.
